Savage Life 3

Save “Pops I Luv U,” a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Webbie’s Savage Life 3 is a party album, and just like any out-of-control gangster throwdown, you’ll be expected to clean up some of the mess. It’s overstuffed at 16 songs and with so much hedonism, redundancy is an issue, but fans looking for the rapper at his scrappiest get that mixtape attitude in album form, where sloppiness and excitement go hand in hand. While Birdman and Rick Ross were some of the big names last time out, this time it’s underground folks like Lil’ Trill and Lil’ Phat, so expect some true Baton Rouge trunk music and none of the gloss that made the previous volumes sparkle. – David Jeffries
