frantic brilliance
This is really something new and great, like nothing you've ever heard. If you say "zappa" then listen more closely. Sometimes the changes and near-schizophrenia can be overwhelming, but that just makes the moments of pure sonic beauty and relaxation all the more rewarding. While "Hieroglyphics, Baby" and "Them's Lasers" are clever and funky quick-paced pop deconstructions, my favorite parts are the latter movements of 'Concrete, Concrete' when Britelle's fever-visions coalesce into something more operatic and melodramatic and strangely moving. Its hard to pick out a favorite line from the insane lyrics that delineate a strange yet familiar world defined by things like 'bimbo summits' and 'perpendicular booby traps'
