Great album!

Done earlier in her career, before she became a star. I think it has the best version of some of her songs.

Smooth

BabyDinosaur

I get a bit jittery every time I hear her voice because it's so damned close to Billie's, and I can't help thinking it's an affectation. Well, regardless, it's beautiful, and most of the tracks on this album are wonderful. There are a couple of tracks worth skipping (or not downloading...), but that's a small price to pay for something that is, in its entirety, quite lovely.

Hooked from the first minute!

I read a couple of rave reviews of Madleine Peyroux's new album (Oct 06) and thought I'd check her out. As eMusic's only offering, this duet is my first introduction to the lady, and what an intro! An easy listening Jazz album of the highest quality. The comparison with Billie Holiday have a strong basis, although she lacks the edginess and grit of Lady Day. The versatile Galison complements her smooth vocals with excellent guitar and harmonica and the whole set hangs together really well. Highly recommended.

Everything she does is gold

Madeleine does indeed sound like a modern-day Billie Holiday only better. She's one of the very best jazz vocalists and does a pretty fair job on some other genres as well. My favorite song on this album is "J'ai Deux Amours" and least favorite is "Shoulda Known." To each his own. D/L the whole thing and see (hear) for yourself. Her new CD is due out early September 2006. I only wish they had more of her stuff on eMusic!
