Wonderful performance

Zurdo

What a fantastic performance of this wonderful symphony; I have several interpretations on CD from ostensibly more vaunted performers but would rate this clearly ahead in every respect. Paul Daniel’s very cogent direction of the work brings great rhythmic precision, superb clarity to the instrumentation and scoring, and illustrates many of Walton’s influences while keeping command of the symphonic structure. Possibly the best thing I’ve taken from eMusic thus far (Daniel's Elgar three is also very fine), and one can only hope that both Naxos and eMusic bring us more from this excellent conductor.
