If you like black metal and if you like "ambient" music, you will LOVE this cd. It is brutal yet soft; harsh yet smooth; chaotic yet sequential; the cliches go on and on. The songs, while lengthy, are portals into a world where the night never ends and the sky is dark blue; where the air is misty and cold. The inhabitants of this world walk with their collars upturned and the faces downward. Melancholy, aggression, brutality- it's all here.
One of those releases that transports you into unknown vistas of a big country. The Pacific Northwest's answer to Negura Bunget or Graveland - violent and beautiful at the same time.
What an excellent mix of metal and ambient tonal sounds. WITTR are a great fresh sound in the metal circle. Black Cascade is my favorite of their albums, this album rains like the forests WITTR come from.
well, it's more than halfway through the year and this beast, coupled with the Malevolent Grain EP, still remains the best black metal of 2009. absolutely magnificent, harsh, beautiful, mysterious, cleansing fire from the northwest. last year Leviathan hung up his spikes... let's pass the crown, shall we? U.S. Black Fucking Metal Mother Fuckers!!
An amazing album, but it shouldn't be listed as "Hard Rock", this is pure briliant Black Metal!
