Arguably the best Wovenhand album yet - which is say a lot. In some ways The Laughing Stalk revives David Eugene Edwards earlier work with Sixteen Horsepower but it is definitely a distinctively unique album. Unlike so many albums where artists stack the front with the best material and trail off into filler tracks by the end, The Laughing Stalk builds in power and intensity as it moves from song to song almost cinematically creating a visceral journey for the listener. I can't recommend this album highly enough. Of five starts it deserves infinite.
