Tone continues his refined, elegant work in the transformation of one sense sphere into another (for example, flute tones into computer haiku in “Lyrictron” on Barbara Held’s CD in collections), in this beautiful CD: here, the sound is an encoded description, via a video-to-sound transformation array (which brings to mind David Behrman’s 70′s installation piece “Clouds”) which scans Chinese character “poems” describing photographic images into an optical music recognition computer program, a very direct process bypassing the electronic-ness of the devices.
