Got this on emusic about a year ago. Still on my playlist. RIP guys, loved your music :-(
average, derivative and baffling in re how it earned Editors Pick rating
Maybe not the most original music but worth a listen from time to time. Subtle differences make this track feel fresh even if the genre is feeling old. Yellow Dogs have a nice 'authentic' sound that I like. If they can stick together, I'm guessing they'll produce some nice tracks in days to come. I'll keep an ear open for these guys.
This 21st century '(re)new(ed) wave' loudly echoes 80's Hunters & Collectors (shamefully not on emusic) in my ears (love the cow-bells)... H&C had a travelling knack for creating Oriental sound with flanger-effects, jerky rhythms and awkward melodies with Australian sentiment. Yellow Dogs seem the same type of listening musicians, using similar sounds, adapting their play while playing listening and carrying their Persian heritage towards a completely anachronistic sound... post-punk? hrmm... Nice? Yes!
Of Brooklyn would be hipsters.
