In case the song titles don't give it away — "Champion Sound," "Styles Come Different" — Yes King draw heavily from reggae. They're not a straight reggae band, though: Mark Rae and Rhys Adams are a pair of London producers whose love for Jamaican music led them to create this thumping, sizzling record. They're not alone: Dawn Penn, whose "No No No" is a reggae classic, lends vocals to the title track (which nicks its stuttering horns from that very Penn classic). Sweet Irie, another dancehall mainstay, nices up "Style Come Different" with an agitated vocal. Think of it as a slightly more commercial Rhythm & Sound: two producers working with a series of esteemed vocalist to deliver something that's both classic and timely.
