was at one of these shows
Yes performed three shows in San Luis Obispo, California,(population 40,000) at the freemont theater, on march 4-6, 1996. Some of the best stuff from those make up CD #1. They converted an empty bank building, not far from the theater, into a temporary recording studio, where they edited the live stuff. I'm not sure if the studio stuff was done there. this was the first full reunion of the classic line up of Yes in many years. I've heard that Jon Anderson, who had just moved to the area thought it would be a great location for the band to warm up for a possible larger tour. the tour did happen but Sadly without Wakemen, who was angry about the new material not being released as a stand alone album, and so he left. these live shows were meant to be a small affair but the shows were leaked to the the internet and people from all over the world showed up. the show was great. who would have thought that Yes would ever play in my little town.
