Never too much Bach
I can never get enough of Bach, and this album is definitely not what I've not been used to. Keep it up, Yo-Yo!
Good listening
While it doesn't strike me as a traditional interpretation, it is good litening nonetheless.
Who's the Best?
Between Ma and Rostropovich, the decision on Suite No. 1 is hard to call. Why bother. Ma makes his Strad cello sing with beauty and love. Listen to them both; love them both.

when i listen to this, all the stress just floats away ... it's magic to the ears
I've never heard these sound silker...
Ma really sexes these up, in his rendition they're smooth and alluring. Not really sure that the effect is indicative of good musicianship or comprehension of the music however. The best recording is still Rostropovich's.
The best there is
Yo-Yo Ma and Bach are a match made in heaven.
