Outside the realm of typical new age music, this album exudes the pure essence of Zen. Iwamoto is widely considered the master of the shakuhachi (Japanese flute), and his compositions come as close to a clear manifestation of spirit (breath) as it gets. The simplicity is potent and the tranquil tones invoked by Iwamoto are otherworldly and ancient.
