AMAZING DEBUT

mantrabyklarc

Every so often a debut album comes along that just blows me away (Band of Horses, Everything All the Time is the last one that comes to mind). Young the Giant is one of those. Like most people, i was sucked in by the infectious enthusiasm of My Body. But from the first play through this album i was hooked. Young has its share of playfulness, but what really impresses is the rich melodies and compositions behind Gadhia's moving vocals and thoughtful lyrics. This band is the whole package. I hope to catch them live soon and i am eagerly anticipating their next studio effort. Although this collection has many more plays in it before wearing out its welcome. They have released a series videos capturing acoustic renditions of several of the songs from this album. Here's an example: http://mantrabyklarc.blogspot.com/2011/10/young-giant-god-made-man-acoustic-live.html Definitely buy this album. The whole thing.

Gets you moving!

Fun pop/rock album. Vocals are clear and the tunes are catchy. Best song is "My Body". Also "Cough Syrup" and "Garands". You will enjoy this album!

Great Debut From a Young Band!

Radstarr

This is a really strong record from such a young band. They definitely know what they want and have taken the reigns. Super poppy singles with big vocals. Check out "Apartment," "My Body," and "Cough Syrup." The rest of the album has grown on me like wildfire and the live set at Schuba's in Chicago freaking rocked!

Stemming from the idea that phenomenal music can be stripped down to its core and remain just as impressive, the duo seek out bands they love-love-love-love, and record stripped-down sessions on a dead old lady's couch they inherited… more »
