Not worth the money
Yuja, a powerhouse pianist at age 24, very much needs a conductor unlike the pedestrian & unimaginative Abbado or worse, the egomaniacal, senile Masur (ck. out her Mendelssohn #1 on youtube). She is a superlative pianist who will greatly benefit from her new collaborations with Tilson-Thomas. This overpriced offering from DG is another example of giving great artists poor orchestral & sonic support & can be easily dismissed. Many great Rach concertos are readily available. One of my all time favorite sets is Peter Rosel's, once available (?!) on emusic. Instead of this, try Yuja Wang's outstanding solo albums (emusic, where are they?).
