Country rockers Edge City features the lineup of singer/songwriter Jim Patton and singer Sherry Brokus. The duo first began playing together in Baltimore, MD, but with a sound that is unashamedly based in Southern roots rock, Edge City eventually relocated to Austin, TX. In 2001, their debut album, Mystery Ride, was released on the Orchard label and featured John Mellencamp guitarist David Grissom, among others. Musically, the band augmented the tunes with such expected roots rock instruments as fiddles, mandolins, and Dobros, and for the song's lyrics, Patton used references from such 20th century American fiction icons as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, as well as personal experiences from back home in Baltimore.
