Biography All Media Guide

Though Girl of the World hailed from Australia, their sound fit neatly into the twee side of the British pop underground. Tim, Bart, and Cameron (like all good twee-poppers, they only use their first names) first got together in Melbourne in late 1990. Their first release was the 1992 7" EP Travel on Parasol Records. This was quickly followed by the "Le Cirque" single and a track, "Tinsel Surf Darlings," on a Parasol Christmas EP. 1993 brought the "Five Years Old" single on Heaven Records, but the group split at the end of that year. Bart and Cameron went on to form the Cat's Miaow! in 1994. In 1995, Parasol released Wonder, an incomplete but satisfying eight-track compilation mixing songs from the singles with previously unreleased tracks.
