Wikipedia:

The Afterglow are an Italian rock band with clear English influences. Founder members the half English frontman Dave Timson and guitarist Mik Lennard, who started the band in 1998. After a few line up changes they found the right drummer in Alex Cherry, who joined the pair in 2002. The band decided to base themselves partially in Italy and partially in the UK on account of their sound which it was felt far more akin to an English 4-piece than to a typical Italian band. Timson's ability to write and speak fluently in English on account of a Sheffield-born mother greatly helped this endeavour. Throughout the years spanning from 2004 to 2010 The Afterglow have been managed by Ethnoworld/Silent Revolution partner and managing director Valerio Meletti.

Their first official 4-Tracks EP Modern Life Virus was published by the London based record label Silent Revolution Ltd (who discovered the band after getting a copy of their previous unofficial Ep) in 2004, with the release of debut single Journey. Their second Ep Love's The Cure (2005) contained the single Love, receiving much critical acclaim in both the UK and Italy and being featured on MTV. That was the first release from the band after they signed to EMI Publishing UK. 2006 proved to be a fundamental year for the band, extensively on tour in both Italy and United Kingdom, when their debut album Decalogue Of Modern Life mixed by Steve Orchard (U2, Travis, McCartney, Coldplay), was released in November. The album obtained huge airplays on hundreds of radios in UK, US, Canada, Australia, Italy and other European countries, while the third single Setting Sun has been broadcast on MTV and other music channel throughout the world. The band, after departure of former bassist, kept playing live as a 3-piece with Timson back as singer-bass player, until the half of 2007; and collecting, among the others, their third consecutive appearance at the HUB Festival in Liverpool. They just settled on their current 4-piece lineup in May 2008, when they welcomed back former and talented guitarist Alberto Garau (already in the band around year 2001).

In June 2009, Sorry., the band's second studio album, has been released. The album has been recorded and mixed at Suonovivo Studios (Bergamo, Milan) by Dario Ravelli (already mix assistant for the first album), and the production was this time assigned to Dave Timson and Mik Lennard, who chose to follow it personally. On February 2, anticipating the album's worldwide release, 5 different singles were taken and launched in different countries (US, UK, Italy, Japan, Australia) where the band had got their main media results with their debut Lp. The release of Sorry. has been followed by a promotional tour in which the band accomplished to play in several UK renowned venues (such as 'The Fly', in London, 'The Cavern', in Liverpool or 'The Classic Grand' in Glasgow). During that tour, the band had the great opportunity to play their first live gigs in Belgium (the Beursschouwburg in Brussels among the others) and The Netherlands. All of You (Piss me off), Merry-Go-Round, Your heart plastic skin became video tapes directed by Davide Valle, a young and talented film-maker who followed the band all along their European tour. Sorry. latest single (Before the Afternoon) has been widely airplayed on many international radios, all across Europe (Virgin Radio-Italy-, XFM-UK-, BBC6-UK- to name but a few). Sorry. recently reached the considerable number of 20,000 downloaded copies. The band are currently back into recording studios, working on their forthcoming album, due to be out in Spring 2011.

At the beginning of 2011, The Afterglow published a note on their web site:

"Following latest events and seen there's no more chance to keep going due to serious disagreements with publishers and executive production, the band is forced to announce to fans, supporters and friends that The Afterglow are quitting. After many years of music, life and great experiences we must say our farewell.Thank you so much and a warm embrace to you all for all the love you showed us for such a long time."

It appears that certain problems occurred with their publishers, forced the band to split.

In May of the same year, the band's website reveals the existence of a new side-project called Adam Frei, launched by Rat Singer, an ironic, politically incorrect animated videoclip. 2012. After 3 and a half years of activity with the band, Alberto leaves for professional reasons, to dedicate his full efforts to other projects.

The band decides to keep going definitely as a trio: the guys come back to their true identity. Now they're working on new singles, and will be back recording with Grammy Awards winning producer Steve Orchard in April at Smokehouse Studios, London.
