Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band of St. Paul, Minnesota is a Grade 4 bagpipe band based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area of Minnesota. The band has performed with Green Day and Blink-182. The band primarily plays celtic music with an Irish emphasis. In 2007 the band became a 501c3 non-profit. They have approx. 20 members and a dozen students. Their uniforms consist of the saffron kilt, black tunic, and black cabeen (beret) with green or red plumes and are modeled after traditional Irish pipe bands. A number of the band members wear the original brass buttons from uniforms of the Irish Volunteers, the very units involved in the historic Easter Uprising in Dublin. They practice at an Irish Merchandise warehouse called the Irish Rose in West St. Paul. The band performs annually at the Minnesota Irish Fair, Minnesota Scottish Fair and the South Dakota Celtic Faire
History
The band was established in 1962. In 2002 they released the Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band 40th Anniversary CD.
