Wikipedia:

The name Belinda is a common female first name of unknown etymology. It may have been coined from Italian bella "beautiful". Some scholars have speculated that Belinda derives from the Germanic given name Betlindis, or possibly a contracted form of Old High German Betlinde, meaning "bright serpent" or "bright linden tree." It may also be a merge of 'Belle' ["beauty"] and 'Linda' ["pretty"], sometimes translated as "immortal beauty".
