Biography

Mixing Enya and Cocteau Twins-style ethereality with Enigma/Deep Forest-esque ethnic dance fusions and ambient electronics, the French group Uman is composed of brother and sister Didier (keyboards) and Danielle Jean (vocals), plus frequent collaborator Zad. They first appeared on records in France in 1992, issuing two albums there before debuting stateside; their American albums include 1997's Purple Passage and 1999's You Are Here.
