Biography

The older brother of Joe LaBarbera (drummer with Bill Evans during 1978-1980) and arranger/trumpeter John LaBarbera, Pat has been a fixture in Toronto since moving to Canada in 1974. He played in a family band early on, attended Berklee (1964-1967), and gained recognition for his exciting solos with Buddy Rich's big band (1967-1973). After settling in Toronto (where he has done quite a bit of studio work), LaBarbera toured with Elvin Jones (1975-1978). He has recorded as a leader for PM, Sackville, and Justin Time.
