Biography

A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, pianist/vocalist Anjani combines her love of jazz with folk, Hawaiin, and other diverse musical influences. Born Anjani Thomas, she attended Berklee College of Music in Boston before moving to New York City. During the early '80s she performed around Manhattan, later meeting legendary singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen. Subsequent tours and recording work with Cohen on such albums as his 1988 release I'm Your Man and 1992's The Future led to Anjani's first self-titled solo album released in 2000. A year later she released the spiritually minded The Sacred Names. Once again teaming up with co-writer and producer Cohen, Anjani released Blue Alert on Sony in 2006.
