Biography

Mexican 12-piece Banda Maguey started playing local traditional music in their native Villa Corona before taking over Jalisco with their onda grupera style. In 1993, the band, led by singer Ernesto Solano, signed up to Fonovisa, making their debut with Tumbando Caña, which was released in January 1994. They climbed local charts with the tracks "Corazón de Oro" and "El Alacrán" and performed live for the first time in the U.S. on May 5, that same year. After issuing El Mundo Gira, featuring the hit single "Pero Te Amo," Banda Maguey signed a record deal with BMG U.S. Latin and recorded Lágrimas de Sangre.
