Biography

One of the better known of England's gradually diminishing nunbers of brass bands, the Black Dyke Mills Band has had a long career of providing support for other artists, including Douglas Yeo, Tori Amos and the Beautiful South, in between recordings and a busy performance schedule. They are also known for a one-off single on the Beatles' Apple label, "Thimgumybob" /"Yellow Submarine", both cuts being produced by Paul McCartney. The single was released as one of the first four Apple singles, but a follow-up was never cut. They have had a long-standing and very successful relationship with the Chandos record label since the early 1980s.
