Biography

Brian Brain was a short-lived pseudonym used by Martin Atkins early in his prolific career as a drummer, producer, label head, and all-around studio rat. Their/his releases featured Atkins playing most everything, save for the occasional contribution from bassist Pete Jones and keyboardist Bill Surgeoner (Cuddly Toys). As Brian Brain, Atkins released his debut single, Another Million Miles, in July of 1980 -- shortly before making his first stage appearance under the guise. Signed to Secret, the long-playing Unexpected Noises was issued in August of 1980. Prior to apparently retiring the Brian Brain alias, the Culture EP was released a couple months later.
