Biography

Also recording as Cabbageboy, Si Begg, and Bigfoot, among others, Simon Begg produces an energetic, dancefloor-ready fusion of techno and electro as Buckfunk 3000. Signed to Tony Thorpe's Language label, Begg's Buckfunk project produced a trio of singles for Language in 1997 before releasing First Class Ticket to Telos, his debut LP, in 1998. While the earlier singles (particularly "PlanetSchockFutureRock") contained a far more pronounced old-school electro flavor, Telos is resolutely in the weird techno vein, with straightforward rhythms mixed with off-kilter sounds and bizarre structural non sequiturs that break up techno's classic conservatism. Begg also owns and operates the Noodles label, co-runs the Mosquito imprint with Cristian Vogel, and has been featured as a remixer for such artists as Sven Vath, Mute, and Sluts'n'Strings & 909.
