A true jack of all trades, native New York composer/lyricist David Yazbek got his big break scoring the stage adaptation of the hit film The Full Monty, a break that earned him both a Tony and a Grammy nomination. He has earned an Emmy award for his contributions to Late Night With David Letterman; scored films for HBO and shows for Fox, NBC, The Disney Channel, and Nickelodeon; and worked with everyone from Tito Puente to They Might Be Giants. His first album of original material, 1996's Laughing Man, received the 1997 NAIRD Award for Best Pop Album. He released Tock in 1998 and Damascus in 2003. An anthology, Tape Recorder (Collected Works), arrived in 2005 on the What Are Records? label.
