Biography

Composer, organist, and sometimes country and pop singer Eban Schletter (who is also a lawyer and a marine biologist) practically defines the terms versatile and eccentric in his music. Based in Los Angeles, CA, Schletter has had a successful career writing soundtrack pieces for both film and television, including the television shows Spongebob Squarepants, Drawn Together, and HBO's Mr. Show with Bob and David, and the movies Run Ronnie Run, Dumb and Dumberer, and the remake/remix of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, among other projects. He has also released several widely varying albums on his own Netherata Records imprint, including Three Payments (which consists of lo-fi drinking songs), Frontiers (hazy, atmospheric, and instrumental), The Civilian (a modern classical composition written for the pipe organ), and Hollywood Free-for-All (a mix of country, folk, and pop songs). This kitchen-sink, he-might-do-anything approach to music makes Schletter a fascinating musician to follow. The vaguely Halloween-themed Eban Schletter's Witching Hour, featuring guest spots from Grant Lee Phillips, Jill Sobule (Schletter plays regularly in Sobule's band), Dave Foley, and others, was released by Oglio Records in 2008.
