Biography

New York City (by way of Indiana) trombonist/composer Erick Storckman's main interest is jazz, but has been known to welcome other styles into his own playing, namely bebop, Dixieland, R&B, salsa, and even ska. In addition to forming and fronting his own septet in 1999, Storckman is the lead trombonist and a contributing composer with Diane Moser's Composers Big Band, and has recorded and toured with ska enthusiasts the Toasters (appearing on a pair of albums, 1990's This Gun for Hire and 1992's New York Fever), as well as with jazz vocalist Marlene Verplank, the Ed Palermo Big Band, Cab Calloway, the Temptations, the Four Tops, and the O'Jays. In June of 2000, Storckman issued his solo debut, Scrapbook, on the Orchard label.
