Biography

Combining the talents of two fine bands into one new project with a different approach, From Quagmire is a trio made up of Dorothy Geller, James Wolf, and Vincent Van Go-Gogh. Geller and Wolf are the lead figures in the excellent band Laconic Chamber, though here things are generally even more quieter and spooked out than that group. Geller performs on nylon-string guitar while adding her soft singing, while Wolf concentrates solely on his sometimes creepily dissonant violin. Go-Gogh, one of the main members in the art-rock ensemble Rake, handles everything else, recording the songs while adding what he feels would work best, cymbal clashes or low electronic tones or more. The trio's debut album appeared on understandable spiritual home VHF in 2001, entitled The Tropic of Barren.
