Biography

After LFO all but disintegrated in the late '90s and Mark Bell went on to produce for Björk and others, the other half of the duo, Gez Varley, began his own solo career with a 1997 album for Studio !K7. After fans of LFO's 1991 Frequencies LP (still one of the most respected electronic albums of all time) waited over five years for a follow-up, the end came soon after LFO's sophomore album, 1996's Advance. Varley's early adulation of hip-hop and electro -- including Juan Atkins, Mantronix and Arthur Baker -- came through loud and clear on his first solo record, Gez Varley Presents Tony Montana. Bayou Paradis appeared in spring 2001.
