Biography

With the rise of laptop techno in the early 2000s came Jetone (i.e., producer Tim Hecker), one of the genre's more celebrated artists. By incorporating subtle glitch effects into ambient techno soundscapes, his style of techno had enough digital aesthetic to differentiate it from standard analog techno. As a graduate student studying digital acoustics and software, Hecker spent years dabbling with electronic music before finally debuting as Jetone. His Pitchcadet album, Autumnumonia, appeared in 2000 and garnered his first wave of acclaim. A year later he moved to Force Inc and released another LP, Ultramarin, that was a bit more accomplished and definitely more recognized. In addition, he made an appearance on the Tigerbeat6 Inc. compilation in August 2001 just as Ultramarin hit the streets.
