Biography

Acclaimed for her interpretations of the music of 18th-century Irish harper and composer Turlough O'Carolan, hammered dulcimer virtuoso Joemy Wilson was born and raised in New Haven, CT. After studying piano and violin as a child, she moved on to voice lessons in high school; first picking up the fretted dulcimer while attending Barnard College, she graduated to the hammered model in 1979. In the decade to follow, Wilson emerged as a leading force in the resurrection of Celtic music, playing countless festivals and recording a series of LPs for the Dargason label.
