Biography

The Boston-based indie pop quartet Jumprope was formed in late 1995 by singer/guitarist Ad and his vocalist sister Noelle, who had recently returned from New York City with a demo tape of her original songs. Ad played the cassette for his friend Cindy, who in turn responded with a tape of her own original material; with the subsequent addition of drummer Tom, Jumprope was born. Debuting in mid-1996 with the No Happy Songs EP -- the inaugural release on the Twee Kitten label -- the group followed with a series of compilation appearances, issuing The Pensive EP in 1997. Another round of compilation tracks preceded the release of Jumprope's full-length debut, 1998's Bookshelf Adventures.
