Biography

Singer/songwriter Kina Grannis began exploring music as a child in Mission Viejo, CA. After spending her younger years performing for stuffed animals and singing with her sisters, Grannis discovered her aunt's guitar at age 15. She received her own guitar the following year and spent a month learning the instrument and honing her songwriting skills. Her hobby followed her when she became a student at the University of Southern California; during Grannis' sophomore year, she was selected by the Thornton School of Music to produce a six-song EP. In early 2007, she recorded a song for Rachael Lawrence and Deborah Ellen that would later be featured in an episode of General Hospital. After graduating from USC in May 2007, Grannis relocated to Austin, TX, to sing and record with a band, planning to return to Los Angeles (and her solo gig) during the winter of 2007-2008.
