Biography

Known first and foremost as a pianist, Los Angeles native (and current upstate New York resident) Lincoln Mayorga is also an arranger, producer, composer, and teacher. Mayorga began issuing his own recordings in 1974, while also working as Walt Disney Studio's staff pianist, performing on such soundtracks as The Rose, Pete's Dragon, Chinatown, and Ragtime. Mayorga has also worked on the score for Fame, as well as for such TV shows as Little House on the Prairie, Highway to Heaven, and Dallas. But Mayorga is not designated to just studio work, he has also toured extensively across North America, Europe, and Russia (he was invited by the Moscow Philharmonic to perform both Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and "I Got Rhythm"), plus collaborating with such notables as Itzhak Perlman, Josef Suk, Arnold Steinhardt, Richard Stoltzman, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Gerard Schwarz. Mayorga has also assisted many esteemed artists with their recordings (whether it be as an accompanist, arranger, or producer), including Johnny Mathis, Barbra Streisand, Vikki Carr, Mel Tormé, Margaret Whiting, Andy Williams, and Quincy Jones. He is also the co-founder of the renowned audiophile label Sheffield Lab (producing recordings by Harry James and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among many others), as well as running his own label, TownHall, which specializes in historical reissues, jazz, complete collections such as all of Franz Schubert's music for violin and piano, Bach's six suites for solo cello, and the complete piano music of Henry Cowell. Mayorga released the solo effort The Song Recital: Alive in America in 1999.
