Biography

Emo pop-punk quartet Logan Square came together in the western suburbs of Chicago around Brad Chagdes (vocals/guitar), Steve Lyons (bass), and Chris Smith (drums). Meeting in high school in 2000 and taking influence from bands like the Ataris and Jawbreaker, the three quickly formed a band together. The group was originally called 15 Minutes Late; they released two EPs and a full-length album under that moniker before changing their name to Logan Square. Second guitar was seemingly a revolving-door position (at one point held by Screeching Weasel's Dave Naked) before Chris Tiritilli solidified the lineup in September 2005. Around this time, the band also hooked up with California's Fearless Records. Their label debut, Pessimism & Satire, was recorded during the last part of the year with Sean O'Keefe (Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack) and released in June 2006.
