Biography

First formed in 1993 by vocalist/drummer Daniel Svensson and guitarist Daniel Dinsdale, melodic death metal act Sacrilege hailed from the city of (where else?) Gothenburg, Sweden. After distributing a couple of demos to underground traders and indie metal labels, the duo signed with Black Sun Records and recruited bassist Christian Frisk and vocalist Michael Andersson to record 1996's Lost in the Beauty You Slay at (again, where else?) famed Studio Fredman. Soon thereafter, Andersson quit, Richard Bergholtz was added on second guitar, and Daniel Kvist was asked to play bass on the following year's sophomore The Fifth Season. Sacrilege then embarked on a European tour with Crown, whose future vocalist, Tomas Lindberg (ex-At the Gates), helpfully lent them a hand on-stage. Shortly after the band's return home, however, Daniel Svensson was offered -- and readily accepted -- the drum gig with Gothenburg metal headliners In Flames, effectively bringing an end to Sacrilege's short career.
