Biography

A finalist on the first season of Québécois reality television talent show Star Academie in 2003, Marie-Mai (aka Marie-Mai Bouchard, born July 7, 1984, in Quebec, Canada) came to music through the influence of her father and started singing at an early age. Before hitting the reality television show scene, Marie-Mai got involved in the musical theater world, performing mostly in Montreal. Upon reaching finalist status, she embarked on the Star Academie tour with other performers from said show, which ended its run in 2004. Her debut album, Inoxydable, was released in September 2004, and by late 2006, Marie-Mai embarked on a major European tour opening for Garou, including a stop at the legendary Olympia in Paris. In August 2007, she released her follow-up, Dangereuse Attraction, the first single from which would reach number one in the Francophone Chart of Radio Energie.
