Biography

Melodium is a moniker of Laurent Girard, an indie electronica producer from France associated with an array of independent labels. Born in 1975, Girard made his recording debut in 1999 with the 7" single Rhythmi on the label Static Caravan. He made his full-length album debut two years later with QuietNoiseArea (2001) on the label Disasters by Choice. Subsequent Melodium albums on Disasters by Choice include A Slight Difference in the Air Pressure (2002) and There Is Something in the Universe (2006). Girad also released albums on the labels Peter I'm Flying (A Possible Way of Spending Time, 2002), Audio Dregs (Anaemia, 2004; Flacana Flacana, 2006; Cerebro Spin, 2008), Autres Directions in Music (La Tête Qui Flotte, 2005; Music for Invisible People, 2006), Unlabel (When I Was Young..., 2006), and Arbouse Recordings (My Mind Is Falling to Pieces, 2008). In addition, he released music in a variety of other formats, from one-off MP3s and homemade CD-Rs to singles and EPs.
