Biography

Representin' Cleveland, OH, is the Mighty Igloo Crew -- Mo Dog Chill, Myke Smoov, Steven D, and Stephanie. The musically tight but loose-knit (members bounce in and out) gangsta rappers are a creation of Mark Morant alias Mo Dog Chill, a native Miamian who's chillin' in C-Town, something he says was difficult to do in Miami because the sunny palm tree city has nothing to brake the heat like the unrelenting Albert Clipper that roars through C-Town from Canada every year and ices it down. He became enthralled with rap as a teen in Miami, mostly solo, writing his own raps and sometimes spitting rhymes with a DJ set known as the Richmond Hts. Crew. Their chilly, Eskimo-ish name comes from the service. Morant and some army buddies called themselves Cash Crew, a name he would have used but another rap squad already was using it, so he went with Igloo Crew because it fit with Chill. Mo Dog Chill is the CEO of Igloo Records, the company that produces the Mighty Igloo Crew and other hopefuls. He debuted with Bang, Bang (1997) originally titled Portrait of a Rapper credited to Mo Dog Chill featuring the Mighty Igloo Crew. They circulated their cold-hearted street-inspired lyrics via army base tours, mall giveaways, and were part of the Undercurrents '98 International Music Expo at the Phantasy Night Club, Players Night Out at O'Reilly's Nightclub, the Battle of the Bands Demolition Derby (sponsored by Sony Music), Peabody's DownUnder, and other area venues and showcases.
