Biography

New York City drum'n'bass duo Ming + FS pioneered their own self-described "junkyard" sound, deftly mixing and matching elements of old school hip-hop, jungle, electro, turntablism, and live instrumentation. Ming + FS met in 1996 while the former was spinning trip-hop sides at a house party, and after teaming weeks later to collaborate on a series of breakbeat tracks, they signed to the Brooklyn Music Limited under the name Leadfoot. In 1997, the duo also opened their own recording studio, Madhattan, as well as a label of the same name; remixing material for everyone from DJ Spooky to the Notorious B.I.G., Ming + FS also earned notoriety for a series of EPs including NY's Lucky Charm and Junkyard Drum'n'Bass I. Their entry to the This Is Jungle Sky mix series preceded the 1999 release of their full-fledged debut LP Hell's Kitchen for Om Records. They followed with more Om releases: The Human Condition (2001) and Subway Series (2002). In 2004, they landed on Spun with Back to One.
