Biography

Original singer and composer Olívia Hime has had both advantages and disadvantages because of her marriage with composer Francis Hime, but her creative production stands for itself. In 1977 she produced Francis' Passaredo. She recorded her first LP, Olívia Hime, four years later. Her association with poets started in 1985 when she recorded A Música em Pessoa, where she put Fernando Pessoa's poems to music. Estrela da Vida Inteira was dedicated to Manuel Bandeira's poetry, having music written specially for her by Tom Jobim and Dorival Caymmi. In 1998, she invited the poets Hermínio Bello de Carvalho, Paulo César Pinheiro, and Joyce to write lyrics for Chiquinha Gonzaga's music, resulting in the album Serenata de Uma Mulher -- Olivia Hime Canta Chiquinha Gonzaga.
