Biography

Twin sisters Claudia and Alley Deheza join Philip Wann for the beautiful headache that is On! Air! Library! The post-rock/experimental trio formed in 1998 while the three were balancing random day jobs in New York City. Borrowing their name from an African documentary that starred an old man who read books on a radio show called The On Air Library, On! Air! Library! honed their moody pop stylings by playing various parties in and around the boroughs of New York. A deal with Arena Rock was cemented in October 2002. Shared dates with labelmates Calla followed into the new year and the split EP with the Album Leaf was released by spring. The Lifetime or More EP introduced On! Air! Library!'s gauzy textures to a broader audience, in turn giving them the needed confidence to record a full-length album. An abstract blend of guitars, programming, keyboards, and vocals came together as 2003 ran its course. While some of the tracks included on On! Air! Library!'s spring 2004 debut were recorded in Wann's bedroom, the majority of On! Air! Library! was tweaked in the studio with producer Steve Rivette (Beastie Boys, Liars). Brad Conroy of the Boggs and Interpol's Sam Fogarino contributed drums, adding to the hypnotic fuse that is On! Air! Library!. After touring with Interpol and the Secret Machines, On! Air! Library! called it quits in late summer 2005. Alley Dehaza went on to work with Secret Machines drummer Benjamin Curtis while her twin sister, Claudia, continued working with Wann for an unnamed project.
