Biography

Oscar Brand is one of the stalwart American folksingers, writers, and interpreters. Over the course of his 60-some-year career he has released 93 albums. He roamed the country with Woody, concertized with Leadbelly, promoted folk of all kinds like Pete Seeger and has hosted the Folk Song Festival on New York's WNYC for 50 years. Many of his recordings contain parodies on single subjects such as holidays, car songs, or political satire. He is well known for his many collections of bawdy songs. Generally the recording style is simple; Oscar and his guitar and a few back-up players. Oscar's records are totally directed toward the songs.
