Biography

Born in Laufen, Switzerland on September 23, 1977, Piero Esteriore was a popular percussionist and vocalist who had -- in some way or another -- been involved in the business of performance since he was a small child. A child multi-instrumentalist, Esteriore studied music in Basle, Switzerland, there learning even more percussion instruments. During that time, he entered a number of singer/songwriter contests in neighboring Italy, playing a number of his own works. His debut album, Passa Il Tempo, was released in 1995, and in 2004 he achieved his career breakthrough on the reality television talent show Music Star. His status as a finalist allowed him to reach a wider audience, but not as big an audience as the one he would perform in front of representing Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest that same year. He has had many charting singles, and in 2007 his live album Io Vivo cracked the top forty on the Swiss charts.
