Biography

A mostly instrumental surf/lounge/film/bossa nova/pop/swing/rock combo from Allston, MA, Seks Bomba is somewhere between the frantic genre hopping of Brave Combo and the tongue-in-cheek kitsch of their fellow New Englanders Combustible Edison. The group formed in 1996, naming themselves after the only phrase guitarist George Hall could recognize in a Czech magazine he was perusing. Hall, singer/guitarist Chris Cote (who also moonlights in the parody heavy metal band the Upper Crust), organist/flutist Lori Perkins, bassist Matt Silbert, and drummer Brett Campbell released their first self-titled EP later that year on their own Dahlia Records label. Seks Bomba delivered their first full-length, Operation: B.O.M.B.A., in 1999. Their second album, Somewhere in This Town, followed in 2001.
