Biography

Duncan Sumpner, a young teacher from Oughtibridge in Sheffield, recorded a tape full of acoustic demos in 2002 and sent them off to Fat Cat Records. Persons at the label claim that they loved the music but initially had trouble making contact with Sumpner; once they did, they scheduled the recordings for a release and they finally appeared in 2005 under the guise of Songs of Green Pheasant (while recording in 2002, Sumpner had billed himself Kayak). Influenced by ambient falsettos from Simon & Garfunkel to Talk Talk's Mark Hollis, he worked the songs up live with a friend, and embarked on a small tour. He also began working on a side project with Adam Davenport of Vibracathedral Orchestra.
