Biography

A Canadian hard rock band formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, State of Shock got their first taste of success in a local rock talent show, and within four years were vying for their nation's highest musical honor. Simon Clow (guitar, vocals), Cameron Melnyk (vocals), John Philippon (drums), Alison Toews (bass), and Jesse Wainwright (guitar) released their first album, Guilty by Association, in 2004, but it was their second album that scored State of Shock the kind of success they were after. Released in 2007, Life, Love & Lies was a commercial and critical hit, with its single "Money Honey" cracking the Top Ten on a number of charts. The following summer was spent supporting hard rock heavyweights such as Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd. In 2008, State of Shock were nominated for the Best New Group of the Year Award at that year's Juno Awards ceremony.
