Biography

Prolific percussionist and producer Steve Reid first surfaced during the mid-1970s, in the years to follow playing on over 700 recording dates, including sessions led by the legendary Miles Davis. In 1987, he scored his greatest success yet as a co-founder of the enormously popular contemporary jazz group the Rippingtons, also crossing over to pop audiences as a member of Supertramp. Named Jazziz magazine's "Percussionist of the Year" in both 1993 and 1995, in between Reid issued his solo debut, the worldbeat-influenced Bamboo Forest; the follow-up, Water Sign, appeared two years later. Susequent efforts include 1997's Mysteries and 1999's Passion in Paradise. Dream Scapes appeared in spring 2001.
